Not only local, Kay's commitment also extends statewide as she holds the position of Vice Chair for the California Council of Land Trusts (CCLT) and is a member of California Natural Resource Agency’s Partnership Coordinating Committee (PCC) for California's ambitious 30x30 initiative. Kay founded the 40 Acres Fire Safe Council in 2020 to help her community be safer from wildfire. Beyond these conservation accomplishments, Kay embraces a more personal connection to nature; she spends her free time walking her rescue German Shepherd (River) in the high-desert and crafting home grown and made canned goods for friends – she’s known for her delightful chutney and blackberry bourbon preserves.
